Because you want your bridesmaids wearing dresses that compliment your dress, you will want to purchase your wedding dress first. At Ellens Bridal & Dress Boutique, we recommend ordering your bridesmaid dresses 4-6 months prior to your wedding date to take advantage of our free shipping offer and to allow time for alterations. It may take some time to round up your ladies, so start making plans for your bridesmaid appointment 7 months prior to your wedding!
What if you dont have 7 months until your wedding date? DO NOT PANIC. Ellens has rush shipping options for a fee of $5-$40. The dresses can be in as soon as 4 weeks from the order date with these rush shipping options.

Some Things To Consider
Before choosing a dress (or dresses) for your bridesmaids, have an idea in your head about what you want the overall look of the bridal party to be. Ask yourself these questions to prepare:
Long or short dresses?
Should all the bridesmaids be in the same dress or different dresses?
If they are in different dresses, are they all in the same color of dress but in different styles? Or all in completely different dresses?
Are there any junior bridesmaids?
Do I want to set the Maid/Matron of Honor apart by adding a beaded belt or have her in a different dress/color?
What styles will flatter the body types of the bridesmaids?
Does the dress need to be mommy-to-be friendly? Are any bridesmaids pregnant or will any possibly become pregnant?
Does the style of the bridesmaid dress(es) compliment my dress?
Running through these questions by yourself or with your bridal party will help you prepare for the appointment! Another recommendation we have is to make a fun afternoon out of this experience. You could start at Ellens by picking out the dress(es), visit other local boutiques nearby, and have a delicious lunch at Charley Creek Inn, Pizza King, or Market Street Grill! We hope to see you and your bridal party soon!
